Description

FREE Event for West London Voluntary and Community Groups who want to be involved in the Work and Health Programme

The Work & Health Programme is currently being commissioned by the London Councils and will replace the Work Programme and Work Choice. The programme represents an exciting opportunity to tackle deep-seated issues within our welfare system, but its arrival coincides with a unique set of challenges:

  • WHP must bring about the stronger integration of local services, particularly in healthcare; but how is this alignment best achieved in practicality?
  • The programme must meet the needs of a changing local landscape, with a greater focus on devolution, the productivity of the local economy and local strategic employment priorities; but what does such a scenario look like?
  • And how can we best work together to meet skills shortages and achieve the government’s stated intention of halving the gap in employment between disabled and non-disabled people?

APM are inviting local interested parties to an event about the London Work & Health that is being held at the Lido Centre, West Ealing:

Lido Centre, 63 Mattock Lane London, W13 9LA

Notes on Alan Cave

Alan Cave, CEO of APM and previously DWP’s Commissioning Director will address these and other questions through a facilitated discussion of how you can get the most from the Work and Health Programme.

Previously Alan led the delivery of the £5 billion Work Programme, the biggest UK payment-by-results public service programme and a central pillar of UK public sector reform.

He was appointed to lead the cross-Government body on Payment by Results and Social Finance. In this time he became the external face of Government in this sector, building high-trust but demanding relationships with major suppliers, and other key stakeholders, including other parts of the public sector, Parliamentary Select Committees, overseas Governments, trade bodies, and lobby groups.
